I’m a little confused as to why in text books it is written that microprocessors were well into their second generation when microcontrollers were invented. That’ll mean the invention of microcontroller was in late 1970s.

@Ruth – When micro controllers where initially invented, it was in its basic stage. It had to evolve into a fully functional product and it took time. During those time, many people went ahead with enhancing micro processors (which were the only option available)! clear ?

What’s the difference between RISC & CISC???? Thanks for the above info, would be better if differences were arranged in tabular form rather than big paragraphs…

@Tuhin – They both differ mainly on hardware. I think there’s not much of a difference in the way “software” is handled for both!
