Aside from slathering apple butter on toast and muffins, swirling it into oatmeal, baking with it, and eating it with a bog ‘ol spoon, this recipe today takes it to a whole new level.

Add a healthy dose of cinnamon with a touch of vanilla and maple syrup and you have one of my favourite butters of all time. It’s a little sweet and ultra creamy, with a hint of tart apple to round it all out.

I’m surprised at how little peanut butter I had to use to create such a creamy butter – 3 parts apple butter to 1 part peanut butter. As a result, we’re left with a rich butter that’s a lot lighter than traditional peanut butter.

I realize that you might have been expecting something green, rainbow-ed or four-leaf clover-ed or filled with beer, cabbage and potatoes today. But sometimes life presents bigger exigencies, needs that must be addressed tout de suite , wrongs that cannot wait for the ideal slot on the calendar to be righted. What I mean is: I really wanted a chocolate and peanut butter brownie the other day and realized I’ve never, in 10-plus years of showing up here a couple times a week, made time for these. This is reprehensible.

My husband can attest that if given the option, horizontal gravity always takes over and I will gravitate to the chocolate and peanut butter.

For example, we have an abundance of frozen yogurt shops that have recently popped up around both Columbia and Charleston. I’m pretty sure there are about 5 shops within 10 minutes of our house. This is not a good thing when I am armed with coupons for these fro-yo shops and am armed with the knowledge that there will be an abundance of chocolate and peanut butter toppings and frozen yogurt to choose from. Logan can testify that I always get one or more of the following flavors:

Mmmm…so good. But, one thing better than chocolate and peanut butter frozen yogurt creations is this chocolate peanut butter cake .
