affiliate links purchased by me I wore my nails natural with just a clear coat for a couple of days this week and was enjoying seeing the growth. I decided to do a classic French manicure to enhance the look, and made a video of the process.  It’s really not as hard as it seems.  The key is to use a brush and some alcohol to perfect the smile line.  Enjoy!

I wish I had a steady enough hand to get a clean, crisp smile line. Is it possible to wipe off the tacky layer and use tip guides? Thanks! :)

Yes, you can do that although many times the polish will still leak underneath the guides, so you have to remove the guide and clean-up before curing.

For dessert: These scallops are often served for Christmas. So what better dessert than a bûche, the traditional French Christmas dessert to go with it? And who said you can't serve this dessert any time of the year? Here is the recipe.

The association between mussels and french fries is a Belgian specialty, but it’s very widespread in France and we brought our own twist to the recipe. There are many ways to cook mussels, my favorite is the moules marinières, a recipe from the west of France where you cook the mussels in a white wine broth with shallots and parsley.

For dessert: A clafoutis, traditionally made with cherries but you can switch them for rhubarb. Find two (very easy) recipes here and here .

Are you acquainted with the French 75? The French 75 is a refreshing and citrusy, sparkling gin cocktail that packs a punch. It’s perfect for the holidays and other celebratory occasions. The French 75 is the answer any time a bubbly cocktail is in order!

French 75’s are made with a standard pour of gin and topped with Champagne, so it’s a strong drink in a sparkling dress. In fact, it’s named after the French 75-mm field gun, which was commonly used in World War I .

Here’s my only spin on this classic cocktail: I used honey instead of sugar in the simple syrup. The light honey flavor plays beautifully with fresh lemon and herbal gin. That said, you can absolutely keep the the original recipe and use sugar if you’d rather.
